RICHMOND, Va. (September 29, 2025) — Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing (BSMCON) hosted its annual Scholarship Reception at the Country Club of Virginia, bringing together more than 150 guests to celebrate the generosity of donors and the achievements of student scholarship recipients.
Dr. Chris-Tenna Perkins, Campus Director and Dean of Academic Affairs, welcomed attendees and reflected on the mission-driven education that defines BSMCON. Ann Carpin, President of the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation, offered an inspiring reflection on the life-changing impact of scholarships that allow students to pursue nursing with purpose and compassion.
The evening’s featured speaker, Maaida Farhad, recipient of the Sarah F. Richardson Endowed Memorial Scholarship, shared her powerful story of perseverance. Originally from Pakistan, Maaida balances full-time studies with full-time work at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital. She credited her scholarship with giving her the opportunity to focus on her education and future career in medicine.
Guests also enjoyed remarks from Sister Fran Gorsuch, who shared highlights from this summer’s Global Outreach trip to Paris, where students deepened their understanding of the 200-year legacy of the Sisters of Bon Secours.
The annual reception serves as a meaningful reminder that donor support not only funds education—it empowers future nurses to carry forward the Bon Secours mission of bringing good help to those in need.
