Make a Difference
Give comfort and support to people in their final days
Hospice care is about making memories
People in their final days—and the families that love them—depend on our donors for the comfort and support they need at the most difficult of times
Thanks to thousands of dependable donors each year, Bon Secours provides a number of specially tailored hospice services for adults and children across the Richmond area. Your gift for hospice care means a person's final months, weeks, days are dignified and peaceful, a time to share memories and treasure moments together.
Each person has unique needs and wishes when it comes to end-of-life care. Bon Secours Hospice by Compassus provides hospice services in the home and at the Community Hospice House, allowing families to choose the most appropriate environment for the best quality of life through their final journey. Noah's Children is the only pediatric palliative and hospice provider in Central Virginia, with special resources for patients under 18 and their families.
With help from donors like you, every patient in hospice receives care for the whole person—body, mind and spirit. You can designate your gift for hospice services or direct it to a specific program like Community Hospice House or Noah's Children. Your generosity will make a difference for families in the most challenging of times.
Community Hospice House
When staying at home isn't the best option, families can turn to the donor-supported Community Hospice House for round-the-clock care in a homelike environment. The Richmond area’s only freestanding hospice facility offers the same warmth and comforts of home with the added support of a full-time specially trained hospice team.
Some patients have complex symptoms that can only be managed with a short stay in a health care setting. The Community Hospice House allows them to receive comfort measures without being admitted to a hospital or a nursing home. Our 16-bed facility uses donations like yours to support physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families. Beautiful gathering areas and gardens are available for families to share meals, pray and reflect, relax and find support in shared experiences.

Amy and Charles Millhiser Hospice Endowment Fund
Donations to our Endowment Fund are special contributions because they ensure the comfort of hospice care is available to everyone who needs it, for many years to come. Endowment gifts are invested and the earnings from the endowment fund are used to support hospice services. The principal—all donations designated to the Millhiser Hospice Endowment Fund—remains invested permanently so funding for hospice will always be available, now and for future generations.
In fact, the initial endowment donation in 1982 by the daughters of Amy and Charles Millhiser paved the way to establishing Bon Secours hospice services in Central Virginia. Thanks to countless donations since Claire Millhiser Rosenbaum’s and Millie Millhiser Heltzer’s first gift in the early 80s, the Amy & Charles Millhiser Hospice Endowment Fund is available to help people get the compassionate end-of-life care that fits their unique needs and circumstances.
