Support services that help people heal in mind, body and spirit
Help a person heal from the wounds that can't be seen
With support from donors, a range of services can help people overcome mental health conditions
A healthy mind is as important as a healthy body. When a person is plagued by mental health challenges, it affects their entire wellbeing. Charitable giving for mental and behavioral health programs is crucial in providing comforting spaces to receive care and resources that support patients throughout their recovery.
Behavioral Health
A licensed therapist and other trained, compassionate staff see patients on site at the hospital. People who are struggling with substance use, depression, anxiety and other behavioral health conditions can get a diagnosis, treatment and spiritual care here in our community, thanks to support from our Mercy Health Foundation Irvine donors.
Donations also help Marcum and Wallace Hospital provide virtual telehealth that connects patients with a psychiatrist for specialized services. And new outpatient geriatric programs help seniors get mental health care for their unique needs.

Community Wellness Programs
Our outreach events offer information on mental health and substance use recovery. And donations help provide peer support for addiction counseling, suicide prevention and care coordinators so event participants can discuss health struggles and get directed to resources.
Your gift also helps people prioritize their health—mind, body and spirit with other services like:
- Stress Less & Live More events offer giveaways and advice from Marcum and Wallace staff on good nutrition, home exercises, weight loss and other wellness topics. Counselors provide mental health resources for stress, depression, suicide prevention and substance abuse.
- Health fairs offer free screenings for participants like blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, carotid artery scans and speech/language issues.
- Diabetes Coalition partnership promotes healthy nutrition by distributing free meal kits that provide all ingredients to prepare a full healthy meal including meats, vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices, along with nutrition information and healthy recipes. Meal kits are distributed each month at a location in Lee, Estill, Powell or Owsley counties.
- Biggest Loser weight loss programs encourage healthy eating and exercise among co-workers.
