Our wellness programs and community health services help every person access the resources to live a healthier life
A healthy community depends on many resources coming together, including access to quality health care, education, nutritious foods and other basic needs. Inspired by our Catholic roots that teach us each person is sacred, Bon Secours is playing a lead role in Hampton Roads to address the priorities that improve people's health and quality of life.
Our health and wellness services extend well beyond the walls of our Bon Secours facilities, reaching into neighborhoods across the Hampton Roads area. Because of donors' generosity, we can provide a number of important preventative care, health screenings and wellness resources out in the community to help people access care and support when and where it's most convenient for them. And often free of charge, to further help those without insurance or the ability to pay.
That's the impact your donation will have. Your gift means everyone can have equitable access to health care, improving the collective well-being of our entire community. You'll help people get the tools and support they need to make healthier choices and prioritize their good health through programs like those listed below.
Care-A-Van Mobile Clinic
Working families, the uninsured and underserved adults and children in Hampton Roads have a free and convenient option for medical care at the Bon Secours Care-A-Van. This donor-funded mobile clinic provides primary care and preventative care services including immunizations, school physicals, treatment for chronic illnesses, cancer screenings and even social service resources.
The Care-A-Van currently serves Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Newport News, zip codes designated as having too few primary care providers, high infant mortality, high poverty and high elderly populations. Thanks to our donors, people who would be unable to afford and access healthcare or who don't have transportation can get primary care services directly in their neighborhood.
It takes tens of thousands of dollars to staff and operate the Care-A-Van each year. Your donation helps with operational costs and to update medical equipment so everyone can get the high quality health care they need, close to home.

KIDZ'NGRIEF
Bon Secours' KIDZ'NGRIEF pediatric bereavement program is available for kids who experience grief or loss. To date, the program has helped thousands of children cope with the changes and emotions that come with the death of a loved one.
We depend on funding from donors to provide a safe, healing environment where facilitators can help each child adjust to their loss. The program uses a range of therapeutic activities including games, art, puppets, role-play and stories to encourage kids to talk about their loss and ask questions.

Community Health Hub in Cradock
Bon Secours Community Health Hub is a health and resource center in the Cradock neighborhood of Portsmouth, Virginia. This donor-supported service of Bon Secours is a comprehensive one-stop site offering programs, health services and resources to help people improve their health.
With ongoing support from our donors, participants can access resources like a healthy food pantry, mobile healthcare services through the Care-A-Van, parenting and prevention education, Family Focus program, health literacy classes and other community health services.

Family Focus
Children need nurturing parents to thrive. Thanks to our donors, the Family Focus program helps moms and dads learn the skills for positive parenting. Classes and activities offer health, safety and education on childhood behaviors and development for all ages, from newborns to teens.
Family Focus facilitates parent-to-parent support and helps families receive valuable community resources for their unique needs and challenges. Educational programs even address difficult issues like child abuse and neglect, human trafficking, substance use, bullying and suicide prevention.
