Support Cancer Care for Champaign County
Ensure life-saving treatments are available in the Urbana community
Life-saving cancer care, close to home. With your help.
Be part of the campaign to transform the Mercy McAuley Center into a new state-of-the-art Urbana Cancer Center
Getting a cancer diagnosis is frightening to begin with. Then a whirlwind of appointments are made, tests are run, treatment plans are set, chemotherapy sessions start. Imagine having to travel over an hour or more round-trip for every step of your cancer battle. It's an added burden for the cancer patient and for the loved ones who are caring for them.
A new Mercy Health Urbana Cancer Center will solve that challenge for residents in and near Champaign County. Our new Cancer Center will bring advanced life-saving oncology care and treatments under one roof in an easily accessible and convenient location right here close to home.Â
But we need your help! A $1 million fundraising campaign is under way to redesign and renovate the former Mercy McAuley Center into the new Urbana Cancer Center connected to the hospital.
Charitable contributions to Mercy Health Foundation Clark and Champaign Counties for the Urbana Cancer Center campaign are needed to:
- Build a comfortable, modern infusion therapy clinic with new IV pumps and infusion treatment recliners
- Renovate and furnish spaces for registration and waiting areas, exam rooms and nurses' station
- Relocate the pharmacy from the hospital to the Cancer Center
- Add new technology, equipment and more space for the pharmacy to prepare infusion and cancer treatment medications while still servicing the whole hospital
- Add a hood ventilation system in the pharmacy for mixing hazardous drugs like chemotherapy
- Earn funding from $200,000 matching grant provided by BSMH Foundation
Will you help people fighting cancer get life-saving medical care and treatments in a modern, comforting, convenient setting here in our own community?Â
When you step up for better cancer care for Champaign County, you help people with cancer and their loved ones spend more time together and less time away from work and family while driving to appointments. And isn't more time the most precious hope of every cancer patient?

The Cancer Center at Mercy Health Urbana Hospital is much-needed and we are excited to finally have it underway!⯠Breaking ground to start construction would not be possible without the generous support of our donors and Foundation who have funded the first phase of the project to relocate the hospital pharmacy.⯠Once completed, the new pharmacy will serve as the backbone to our cancer program.
Many of our Champaign County residents and those from surrounding areas are traveling at least 30 minutes or farther to see a medical oncology provider and/or receive chemo treatment and infusions.⯠With our planned opening in late 2024, cancer care close to home will be an answer to many prayers.â¯The campaign will continue fundraising to ensure the remaining phases of renovations can be completed and state-of-the-art technology can be implemented to provide Urbana citizens with the cancer services they deserve to have in their backyard.
