Mercy Health Foundation Irvine's 2024 Paradise Luau centered Liver Health Matters campaign

Over 300 guests raised more than $56,000, securing cutting-edge liver assessment technology

On August 24, people flocked to Kentucky Stream Heritage for the 7th annual Paradise Luau. Guests traveled from far and wide, in their best "island" attire, for this fan-favorite event. It was the perfect summer day to enjoy a luau-style dinner and drinks. Lively music set spirits high and kept folks grooving all evening. And attendees got to bid at several auctions—including a silent auction featuring a whopping 120 items!

Each year, Mercy Health Foundation Irvine hosts an annual fundraiser for health care initiatives. This year, all proceeds went toward the Foundation's ongoing Liver Health Matters campaign. Liver Health Matters is a direct response to rising rates of liver disease in the area. The campaign makes up a full program to increase awareness, education and treatment in Estill, Lee and Powell counties.

Thanks to Mercy Health Foundation Irvine supporters, the Luau was a huge success. Between ticket sales, auctions and sponsorships, the evening raised $56,000. The money went toward buying a FibroScan for Mercy Health - Marcum and Wallace Hospital, which is now in use. A FibroScan performs non-invasive liver assessments, increasing early detection chances. Early detection is the single best defense  against advancing liver disease. Every Paradise Luau ticket helped bring this cutting-edge technology to our hospital. We are so grateful to guests, supporters and sponsors for helping improve health outcomes in our region.
