You helped provide the meditation sessions that gave Bob peace of mind during his cancer battle
After 18 months of treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer, Bob Pyndell was spent. A combination of chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy left him physically, emotionally, and spiritually depleted. Your gift gave him strength.
“There was so much pain and discomfort, and feelings of despair and frustration,” he says. “A palliative care physician suggested I try meditation.”
Meditation (also known as mindfulness) is an ancient tradition with modern health benefits. It has been shown to lower blood pressure and reduce stress and anxiety. Thanks to your generosity to the Cullather Quality of Life Center, Bob was able to find solace through professionally guided meditation.
“The Center is an absolute blessing,” Bob says.
“The meditation program helped clear my head and calm my spirit through my cancer journey. It also helped me take a much closer look at my inner self."
Bob's meditations were aided by audio downloads that he listened to on his phone.
"The psychologist provided me with the meditation topic we discussed after each session," he says. "Topics included Letting Go, Pain Management, Stress Management and Spirituality. To this very day, I still listen to the downloads before bedtime."
Bob credits the Pain Management meditation with helping him avoid prescription opioids for the neuropathy pain the chemotherapy caused in his fingertips and feet. He even gets acupuncture, another service provided by the Cullather Center, to ease his pain.
"I am now a stronger and better person." Bob says. "I want to take this opportunity to thank the donors and sincerely hope they continue to bless this worthy and needed program with their generous contributions.”
