Hospice helped Tami care for her grandmother and mother, thanks to you
Losing two family members in two years is hard for anyone. But when Tami Conley lost both her grandmother and her mother within two years, it was Mercy Health Hospice in Lima that helped the family get through a horrible time.
“When my grandmother passed away, hospice walked with us through the entire process,” Tami recalled. “You think you are ready, but you have no idea.”
When Tami realized that her mother was reaching the end of a very short battle with lung cancer, she knew exactly who to call.
“Their compassion toward mom and toward us to make sure we had everything we needed and were okay was unbelievable. It’s amazing to have a calm presence there when you are scared, nervous and emotionally drained.”
“I asked for Tina at St. Rita’s Hospice specifically,” said Tami. “Even though we’d been through it once, it’s harder when it’s your mom and she’s so young.”
Losing her mother so quickly was very difficult. Tami depended on hospice staff not only to care and support her mother, but also for the help she needed herself.
