LeeLee and Jack give to ensure hands-on education for future nurses
LeeLee Cummings is grateful for the education she received in 1958 at the Bon Secours Baltimore School of Nursing, and she’s happy to see new nurses receive the same level of training.
She and her husband Jack are volunteers at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital and strong supporters of the Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing.
“The reason I’m so passionate about the college is that they require more hands-on nursing than is standard. They are fostering the mission of nursing I was taught more than 60 years ago.”
When they decided to support a scholarship at the college, they found an easy way to make a contribution by using their required minimum distribution from their retirement account, and saw a tax break, too.
“I don’t think a lot of people know about the tax benefits to using that distribution,” LeeLee said. “For us, it was the perfect solution.”
