Why We Give: To support Mercy Health’s vital role in our community
For Sam and Anne Halker, the decision to support the Mercy Health Foundation Greater Lima was an easy one.
“We believe in supporting organizations that make our community a better place. Health care is necessary to live, work and raise a family,” Sam says.
As donors for more than 45 years, the Halkers have witnessed the lengths Mercy Health has gone to for Lima.
“Mercy Health has demonstrated a continued commitment here. They invest in people, businesses and the latest technology. They provide expanded health care services for the benefit of our community,” he says.
The Halkers most recent gift is an investment in the future. They made a generous gift to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program at Mercy Health — St. Rita’s Medical Center.
“The GME program can serve as a catalyst to attract more physicians to our area,” Sam says. “Hopefully, local health care providers can attract and retain the best and brightest talent. We want Lima recognized for exceptional health care services for future generations.”
