Nancy and Rusty give so others can have the best care during tough times
For more than 30 years, Nancy and Rusty Bruni have taken a tragedy and turned it into a gift.
The Bruni’s infant son, Douglass, was treated and died at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital. But even in the midst of their pain, they saw the compassion and caring offered by all of the staff at the hospital.
"The care we received makes us so grateful. It feels like the right thing to do to give back so other people can have the same experience at what may be the worst time in their lives."
“One of us was almost always there so we got to know all of the nurses and doctors,” Rusty said. “They were all so fantastic—so comforting and thoughtful.”
“They walked with us, and it was so genuine,” Nancy said. “It is a compelling feeling when after a loss you want to do something to help others."
