Carolyn's heart is on the mend, thanks to you

Valentine's Day is a day full of hearts, but for Carolyn Pendleton, it was also the day she learned her heart was in dire condition. She'd long suffered from asymptomatic aortic stenosis, but it had progressed. Her cardiac surgeon, Dr. Brody Wehman, knew open-heart surgery was the only option.

When Carolyn needed help, you were there for her. Your gift recently provided Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center with new surgical technology that treats Carolyn's condition.

The KONECT device is a meaningful advancement that gives surgeons a preassembled device with two leading technologies. They can then streamline treatment for patients requiring this complex and technical procedure.

"We are excited that our team at Bon Secours is the first in central Virginia to use this new product," shared Dr. Wehman. "I wanted Carolyn and other patients like her to have the best possible technology available to them. We are thrilled that Bon Secours secured it in time for the surgery she needed."

"It was such a blessing for me to be directed to that hospital. I can't thank the donors enough for caring for me."

With such a complicated condition and major surgery, Carolyn knew her care needed to be superior. She is thankful the treatment she needed is available locally at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center.

"I was treated so beautifully there," Carolyn said. "It was a very busy time at the hospital, and I had no idea what was going on, but everyone took such good care of me. The doctors never stopped keeping me aware of what was next. The nurses were just angels in caring for me."

For Carolyn, the KONECT device shortened her time in the operating room and helped her recovery.
